BERMONDSEY 223

People walking in front of a modern London art venue with large windows, green wall tiling, and an open entrance. Tall buildings can be seen in the background under a cloudy sky.

NOW SOMETHING PERMANENT.

Bermondsey 223 opens in The Blue Market, SE16, in late 2026 — the UK’s first public venue wholly dedicated to new talent in contemporary photography.

After 10 years of Peckham 24, we are excited to announce our plans to open a new venue for the lens-based arts at 223 Southwark Park Road in South London.  The new site will be committed to supporting the careers of emerging talent in photography and to arts education in the local community.

Free to enter and built for the next generation.

OPENING LATE 2026, SE16

People viewing photography in a modern art gallery in Bermondsey with white walls, concrete floors and an industrial finish, some seated and some standing, with large windows showing an outdoor view.

Bermondsey 223 is a fully refurbished building rooted in one of South London's most historic working-class communities. ‘Arts profit the people’ has been Bermondsey’s motto for centuries. As well as developing and incubating new talent, our social purpose will be to increase the presence of working class youth in the arts and make art accessible to all.

BUILT BY THE TEAM BEHIND PECKHAM 24

Bermondsey 223 is the vision of the team behind Peckham 24.

Peckham 24 started in 2016 as a 24-hour pop-up on the fringes of Photo London Week as a grassroots, artist led event.

Ten editions later, over 200 emerging photographers, curators and collaborators have shown their work at the festival. The British Journal of Photography called it "a mainstay in the UK photographic calendar". Peckham 24 previously partnered with the V&A Museum to launch the V&A Parasol Foundation Prize for Women in Photography.

Bermondsey 223 is the next chapter. A permanent building and a year-round destination for contemporary photography. Not three days in May. Every week.

We are excited to reveal more about the plans for Bermondsey 223 at this year’s Peckham 24.
